Calatrava's project for the renovation of the Velodrome Stadium
(Marseilles, France, 1995) provided the ultimate inspiration for the
140-foot-span trusses of my Mega Sound Stage. Doubling the truss structure
while narrowing the spacing dramatically altered the soaring look and feel
of the original truss (highlighted in cyan), but created an effective,
lightweight structure nonethless.
